WINTER MARATHON NIKSIC

Dear friends, winter sports and mountain lovers - we invite you to join us and attend the first Winter Marathon in Niksic. This event is supported by the municipality of Niksic, Tourism organisation of Niksic and NGO Nature lovers who, aware of the potential and the beauty of our mountains, decided to show that Niksic has a lot to offer and deserves to be a striking winter destination for active tourism. Niksic will once again, without doubt, show and prove its hospitality!

Marathon will take place on 19th and 20th February 2022 and it will include two races. Main race in the length of 25 km will be held on 20th February 2021 and the family race in the length of 3 km which will be held on 21st February 2021.

Dažnik Skimo race is a novelty in Montenegro and for the first time it will be held as part of our event. This is a competition intended for touring skiers whose task is to get to the top of Dažnik on skis in the shortest possible time and ski back to the finish line. Competitors will have the opportunity to choose the route they will take to the top as well as the route they will ski back.

Important information

The length of the main race for individuals is 25 km and is limited to the duration of 9 hours and it includes two checkpoints where the participants will be offered with refreshments;
Marathon includes three disciplines: snowshoeing, ski touring and Nordic touring;
Start and the finish of the race is Ski center Vucje (elevation of 1350 m);
The summit reaches the height of 1660 m above sea level;
Total ascent is 600 m;
On our website you can find a recorded track. GSSCG and organizers will take care of our participants. They will accompany the participants on snowmobiles and skis

Participants must be experienced and have the expertise in mountain walking in winter conditions, as well as the adequate physical fitness. Competitors participate in the marathon on their own responsibility. The participants must be at least 18 years old, in good health and physical condition and must have adequate equipment necessary for the marathon;
Minors accompanied by parents or guide are allowed to participate;
Participation fee is 35 EUR per person and includes: refreshment during the race, safety supervision of participants and the accommodation (BB) in Ski center Vucje;
Application deadline is 17th February at 12 pm;
Everyone who wishes to participate must register online on the website and the participation fee must be paid through online registration platform.
